i just paid Best Buy $429 (+ shipping) for this -549dx laptop and was glad to get it at that price. It is an upgrade from my current CQ60-420US, a terrific little laptop bought for $350 from Staples, which i'm now turning over to a friend. The GP60-549 DX is an upgrade in terms of the following considerations: webcam, more RAM, Win 7 BUT it will have to perform very well, indeed, to out perform my CQ60-420US. The proof of the pudding will be in the taste....
I bought this laptop from Best Buy about 2 weeks ago. I am completely satisfied with it. I actually purchased it thinking that it would be a complement to my desktop. Already, I have found it to be a replacement as I don't use the desktop anymore.
I am very surprised that the price is only $429.99 - I recall that after the promotion was over the price went up to $599.99 only to be reduced again a week later.
This G60-549DX was put to the test and never gets hot, never freezes, it is VERY fast, you will love the HDMI connection to High Def TV, excellent speakers, and only thing I had to adjust was the microphone settings to get excellent internal microphone recording(
1. Go to control panel /hardware and sound /sound/recording/mic/ properties/advanced
change settings to last one which is 2channel 24 bit, 96000hz studio quality.
Uncheck EVERYTHING on the advanced window
2. When in SKYPE go to Call/audio settings
Uncheck automatically adjust audio settings and move recording level to middle between min and max
Save and make a test call)
This is a good price for this computer. I'm not sure why anybody would scoff at the price. If you look at the features, this computer is virtually identical to the acer AS5534-1121. Bestbuy also has this computer on sale online for 399.99. Acer is a great brand and for $30 cheaper than an HP that is essentially the same thing, sure it's great, but 429 for the HP is not bad at all. I just don't understand why people would be raving about the price of the acer at 399 and then act like it's crazy to charge 429 for an hp with the exact same features. it's not a huge difference in price. And personally speaking, I've owned an hp in the past, and I do believe there name brand offers them the right to charge 30 more dollars for essentially the same computer
The great G60-549DX is all gone now - BestBuy this morning features a lower model the G60-535DX for $500. Wow! I guess we did great! A top performer for only $430 - that was such a great deal while it lasted!
will best buy have them again at that price?
G60-549dx maybe not available, has G60-535DX for $500
But I predict, will have a great deal for Laptop T4300 under $400 this weekend
Because Laptop T4300 around $400 is very Hot.
I bought the G60-549Dx from BB, prior to black Friday. I'm not sure that I want to keep it. I still haven't opened the box. My other choice is a Gateway, with a 17" screen. I'm thinking about getting that one. I like the screen size better. I don't need two laptops. I will be selling the 549DX. It comes with back-up discs.
i bought G60-549DX from a retail shop in mid-november. In indian money, it costs Rs.21,600(approx:419USD). Its a great notebook for this price. Excellent performance.
